Treatment with the physiokey

The design and highly variable waveform of the physiokey allows the therapist to deliver patient-individualised and specific treatments using a new, fast and simple treatment methodology.  Treatment can be applied locally to the painful area, directly over the spine or over orthopaedic metal implants using simple physiokey protocols.

physiokey is applied directly onto the skin without the need for conductive gels.

physiokey provides treatment options for acute and chronic pain as well as the improvement and recovery of function.

For the first time, physiokey also utilises a modified form of iontophoresis called “key-phoresis”.  Here, the use of an external cream and gel become even more efficient.

physiokeyis mobile and ready for use anywhere thanks to its size and the high performance battery.

3 types of treatment

physiokey combines three application modes in one device

Bio-regulation

Bioregulation mode delivers bio-adaptive impulse to the body’s physiological systems via skin areas in order to provide pain relief and functional restoration.  There are 11 special programs available.

Diagnostic

Diagnostic mode allows the identification of optimal treatment points and individualised therapy through numerical readings.  The readings are used to give information for the optimal location and duration of therapy.

Keyphoresis

Key-Phoresis mode is a modified iontophoretic mechanism to facilitate the absorption of external substances such as creams, lotions and gels.

Areas of application

For therapists of many disciplines

The functional principle

The adaptive and regulatory way in which the physiokey works is produced by constant skin and tissue resistance measurements. As a result, each signal individually adapts to the actual state of the patient’s body. Every impulse differs from the previous one, thus preventing the body habituating to a single, continuous electrical signal.  The form and duration of the therapy is regulated by the patient themselves.  This happens up to several thousand times per second and influences the body’s nervous system and thus the body’s adaptive and regulative processes (including pain relief).

More than 8-% of patients notice a significant change in their symptoms following treatment as well as improvement in the tensile state of muscles, and a rapid reduction of soft tissue swelling.  Here it is theorised that there is quicker lymph drainage as a result of the special impulse technology.

1. Impulse delivery

The device generates a highly variable impulse (a damped, bi-phasic, sinusoidal impulse), delivered through two fixed concentric electrodes once skin contact occurs.  If ther is no skin contact, the device will not deliver any impulses.

4. Impulse interpretation and adjustment

The “response reaction” is measured by the physiokey within microseconds.  The device analyses the modified impulse and then applies an individually-adapted impulse.  The cycle continues all the while during treatment, stimulating the nervous system to activate its own pain relief and self healing abilities.

3. Impulse transmission

Once the impulse is absorbed through the skin, the information is passed through the body to the brain  The body reacts to the impulse and modifies it in its own very specific and individual way and then ‘sends’ the signal back – called a ‘response reaction’.

2. Impulse absorption

The impulse is delivered onto and through the skin, but enters only about one-tenth of a millimetre below the skin.  These impulses are conducted through the body via sensory nerve fibres, the lymphatic system, and connective tissue of the body; directly to the brain.
